Artist Statement
In my latest acrylic painting, “The Mothership,” I delve into the intersection of technology and instinct, using a vibrant palette and dynamic forms to explore the tension between the organic and the mechanical. The canvas is a visual playground, riddled with electronic geometric shapes reminiscent of a computer motherboard, which serve as the backdrop for my central figure—a jaguar lioness dinosaur with wings.
Rich reds and striking greens converge, creating a creature that leaps off the canvas with an air of determination and ferocity. This figure, poised to pounce, embodies the raw power of nature while simultaneously engaging with the digital realm. With its mouth open wide, it invites viewers into a world of technology, suggesting both a threat and an allure. The piano-key fingers, frozen in a playful pause, invite interaction, encouraging the audience to engage with the complexities of our modern existence.
“The Mothership” is not merely a representation of a creature but a commentary on our relationship with technology. It challenges viewers to consider the dual nature of innovation—its ability to empower and to consume. As you stand before this piece, I invite you to reflect on the balance between connection and isolation in a world increasingly dominated by the digital.
Approach with curiosity, but beware: the mothership is ready to pounce, promising to swallow you whole into its vibrant, electrifying realm.
