Artist Statement
In "The Monkey Trap," I explore our paradoxical relationship with technology, inspired by the metaphor of a monkey ensnared by its refusal to let go of tempting bait. This painting reflects our need to release our devices to engage more fully with ourselves and others.
The vibrant colors and dynamic forms represent the allure of screens and digital distractions that divert us from the present. Just as the monkey is trapped by its desires, we often sacrifice our freedom for fleeting connections.
I invite viewers to reflect on the parallels between the monkey’s plight and our own struggles with technology. "The Monkey Trap" serves as a reminder of the importance of mindfulness in our tech-driven lives, urging us to consider what we cling to that hinders our freedom and joy.
Ultimately, I hope this work inspires a journey toward liberation and a deeper appreciation for authentic experiences, encouraging us to seek balance in a world full of distractions.
