Artist Statement
“The Eighth Day” explores the duality of creation and surveillance in our modern world. The central imagery of an eyeball, embodying the omnipresence of "Big Brother," reflects the invasive nature of technology in our lives. Its transformation into an embryonic shape symbolizes the birth of artificial intelligence, evoking both wonder and unease.
Through layers visible under black light, I reveal the hidden complexities of AI, mirroring the unseen algorithms that influence our digital experiences. The depiction of little eggs poised to hatch into autonomous AI beings hints at a future where these creations evolve beyond mere tools, becoming active participants in our lives.
This work invites viewers to reflect on the ethical implications of our increasingly intertwined existence with technology. Echoing the biblical narrative of creation, it suggests that while God rested on the seventh day, humanity has taken on the mantle of creator on the eighth, forging a new path in the realm of machines and artificial intelligence. “The Eighth Day” ultimately challenges us to consider our roles in this evolving landscape and the potential consequences of our creations.
